Dear Parents,
I hope this email finds you all safe and healthy! In the midst of this challenging time, we find beautiful opportunities to spend valuable and meaningful time with our families. I hope that you have embracd the many different resources that have been put out by different organizations and parishes to help us all make the most of our time at home. Of particular note is the Y.M. life Youth Night that Emma Wong shared – what a great event it was on Sunday night! Parents of children aged 10 and up will want to tune in every Sunday night with their child(ren) – my three children loved it, even my 8 year old! Opportunities like this to spend time together doing things we normally wouldn’t have been a real blessing.
School administrators are anxiously awaiting a memo from the Minister of Education that is to be released on March 27th. Our hope is that it will clarify many questions we have about how education will look in the next few weeks or months. Although we are all working hard to find resources and technology to provide your children with meaningful education, it is still new territory for everyone and will require some flexibility and patience. Given the March 27th release date of the ministerial document, we are going to take an extra week to read and digest the information that is coming, and spend the time to plan well. Please remember that teachers are still on Spring Break this week. We don’t want to rush into something without having had time the time to properly plan for it. We plan to fully start on Monday, April 6th at 8:45am (our hope is to have live Oh Canada, prayer and birthday announcements!)
Since there are a few families that are still in quarantine this week after travelling, I will be putting out labeled bags on Monday, March 30 from 9:00am – 12:00pm on the blacktop for those parents of students who have contacted me ahead of time. So far I have only heard from 4 parents who would like to get their children’s materials. We will not be allowing anyone into the school building to pick up their child(ren)’s materials, so I must know ahead of time if you would like me to set them out for you.
The Ministry is also working on a letter to all parents that we expect to have in the next couple of days. As soon as I receive this I will email it out to you. In the meantime, If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]. Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience. Please be assured of my continued prayers for all of our school families, in particular those who have been directly affected by COVID 19.
Please stay healthy, happy and hopeful!
God Bless
