Dear Parents,
You may have seen an article in the Maple Ridge News over the weekend that references a local confirmed case of the coronavirus (Covid-19). Many of you have contacted me, worried about how this could affect our school community and if it is safe to send your child(ren) to school. Please do not worry. The individual in the article is a 30-year old woman who was just identified as BC’s 6th case of the coronavirus. She recently returned from Iran and has self quarantined herself. The article from Fraser Health states that the woman had contact with individuals who are in the school system, but these individuals are not showing any symptoms at all. Please be rest assured, as indicated in the letter from Fraser Health, “There is no public health risk at schools in the region. There is also no evidence that novel coronavirus is circulating in the community.”
Should there be a concern for public safety, school administration will be immediately contacted by Fraser Health and F.I.S.A. (Federation of Independent Schools) and the proper precautions taken. I am attaching both the letter from Fraser Health as well as the article in the Maple Ridge Times for your reference.
