NO SCHOOL- SEPT 30- TRUTH & RECONCILIATION DAY
Dear Families,
Today was Orange Shirt Day at school. The teachers have been talking about Truth and Reconciliation as part of our school theme but have not talked to their class about the weight of tomorrow’s holiday in detail. We feel that the conversation is best left to parents as to how much you want to engage your child(ren) in this topic. There are some instances in the curriculum that speaks to Aboriginal culture and narrative and the teachers will share that information with you as it comes up.
In this Sunday’s Gospel, the apostles themselves asked Jesus to increase their faith. Jesus replied, “When you have done all you have been commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.’ (Lk 17:10). We are called to lean on our faith. Jesus does not give us blessings based on how much faith we show. It is not the case of using our faith as currency with God. Our faith does not stop challenging things from happening to us, rather our faith gives us armour to persevere through those challenges. The question is not how much faith we have, but rather how we use our faith.
Please ensure your child has their full uniform on Monday for student photo day, including their green school sweaters or vests. NO GYM STRIP on Monday please.
Yours In Christ,
Mrs. Maria Fonseca

We ask that the parents meet Mrs. Fonseca in the gym at 9:00am to set up the stations.
The stations will be set up in the gym and outdoors. Parents will need to be at the stations to ensure that the students know what to do when they get there. Staff will be with each class for supervision.
