Living, Celebrating, and Proclaiming Our Faith

🎉SCHOOL OPENS SEPTEMBER 3-NOON DISMISSAL, NO CELTICS CLUB🎉

Friday, August 30, 2024

Dear Families,

We cannot wait to welcome you all on Tuesday! This week, the staff has been busy preparing for the upcoming school year. On Wednesday, we had the opportunity to join all the other CISVA schools for our Faith Development Pro D Day. It is one of my favourite pro-d opportunities, as over a thousand CISVA educators come together to pray, learn, and be with each other. What a wonderful community we work in!

This year, our theme is Living, CELEBRATING and Proclaiming our Faith. We are concentrating on CELEBRATING our Faith! We look forward to all our celebrations of Saints, sacraments and the word of God!

Yours In Christ,

Mrs. Maria Fonseca

✨MEET THE STAFF & PARISH FESTIVAL

This year, our Meet the Staff event will happen just before the Parish Festival on Saturday, September 7, at 4:30. It will start with 20 minutes in the gym for a short presentation. Then, there will be two 15-minute sessions in the classrooms. Teachers will present their information twice so that parents who have multiple children can attend as many as possible. Support staff will supervise the students on the playground during the sessions. Please collect your children at 5:30.

Your families are invited to attend the 5:30 pm mass.

The Parish Festival starts at 6:00. If you are not attending mass, please plan to stay on the school playground until the Festival opens at 6:00.

⭐RSVP NEEDED

If you are attending the festival, please RSVP https://www.stpatricksmapleridge.ca/event/parish-festival/ so that staff know how much food to prepare. Food and activities are FREE!

Please click the link for more information about the festival.

✨ITEMS IN THE OFFICE

If you left school early, we still have items and Learning Updates in the office. Please come by and pick them up.

✨DISMISSAL OFF SCHOOL GROUNDS

If you are allowing your child to walk off school grounds after the final bell, to walk home, to Holy Grounds or to meet you on the street, please SEND AN EMAIL TO [email protected] and to your child’s teacher. This email must be renewed EVERY YEAR. With all the construction around our grounds, we are going to have to be more vigilant at dismissal time. Please help us out by sending the emails right away.

We are UNABLE to dismiss students to Holy Grounds, unless you have made arrangements with the parish staff. They are unable to supervise children in the coffee house.

❗REMIND APP

The Remind App is an invaluable tool for sending reminders and any emergency information such as closures. It is important that you are connected. You can either download the app or join via text messages. Click the link below to join. If you already receive messages from the school on this app, you do not need to sign up again.

✨REMINDER: SCHOOL DRESS CODE

Within the mission of St. Patrick’s Catholic teachings, respect for our bodies further deepens our valued faith. Therefore, while complying with the uniform:

  • All students must have outside shoes, black indoor school shoes & PE indoor runners
  • Hems should be worn, modestly, just above the knee.
  • No body piercing is to be evident.
  • Stud earrings continue to be the safest option for earrings. Hoop and dangling earrings pose a safety issue and are therefore strongly discouraged. If your child is unable to wear stud earrings for any reason, please let your child’s teacher know.
  • Subtle hair clips or headbands- no big bows, flowers, or headbands with crowns/ears
  • Artificial or permanently applied tattoos are not to be visible.
  • Hair should be neat, clean and well-groomed each day. No extreme hairstyles (i.e., mohawks) or designs shaved into the hair.
  • Hair colour – no artificial hair colouring permitted.
  • Caps and hats may not be worn in classes or in school buildings.
  • Make-up and nail polish are not permitted.
  • Daily, the teachers check to ensure the students are in full uniform. Uniforms must be in good condition, laundered and remain at a suitable fit. No rips, tears or visible stains.
  • Students are expected to tuck in their polo shirts at all times
  • Sweaters are mandatory at all times when wearing full uniforms
  • Responsibility of correction rests first with the parent, the child and then the teacher. If there are problems, the teacher will inform the parents by letter.
  • After three such letters, the teacher will inform the principal and the principal will contact the parents. Students who receive three infractions will not be permitted to take part in the next dress down day.
  • If no resolution can be reached, the Education Committee will be informed.
  • We have a Used Uniform coordinator who ensures that used uniforms sold through the school are in good condition.

CHILDREN MUST wear the full school uniform supplied by our uniform provider, CAMBRIDGE UNIFORMS at all times, including to and dismissal from school. Children not in uniform will not be allowed to participate in classroom, field trips and/or extracurricular activities.

SUMMER UNIFORM CAN BE WORN UNTIL FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11TH.

For a full list of uniform pieces, please refer to the Parent Handbook.
